estimating your own home value, this is probably better left to a professional.
Contacting your local Realtor can be a good start. He or she will be happy
to provide you with a Comparative Market Analysis which lists recently closed
and available homes in the vicinity of the home you want a value for. This
is usually terrific information and very accurate if you're speaking with a
someone who knows the business in your area.
If you desire something
more substantial, you can hire a licenesed real estate appraiser. This
will usually run somewhere between $300-500 depending on the location and size
of the home to be valued.
